Hakam Din Bagpipes: Featured by Spanish Musician JDC

The Artist

In the video above, you see JDC (Jesús del Castillo) with a set of Hakam Din bagpipes. JDC is a Spanish musician who creates a fantastic blend of Celtic and Electronic bagpipe music.

You can check out his music on Spotify: Jesús del Castillo and Instagram: @jesusdelcastillojdc. We highly recommend giving his tracks a listen, they're excellent.

The Feedback

JDC purchased a set of our B-4 Bagpipes a couple of years back. Since then, he has featured them as his main visual set in music videos and on social media. After receiving the set, he reached out with some honest and helpful feedback for which I'm grateful to him.

Hello friend, it is a pleasure to talk to you again.

I am very happy with the bagpipe. I changed the chanter because I use one made of plastic polymer; this material helps a lot with changes in temperature and humidity, as it remains very stable in tuning. I also changed the bag because I use Gore-Tex material...

On the other hand, I would love to receive your new advances and help you in whatever I can.

JDC

Since JDC's review, We've started making a new 480hz Polymer Chanter and adding it to our sets as an option with our Bagpipes, so you can choose between a Bb Set or a Modern Pitched Set.

Jesús replaced the original bag with a Gore-Tex bag, such as the one by Canmore. This is a common approach taken by most professionals who play bagpipes made by Hakam Din. Even though there is nothing inherently wrong with the pipe bag we include, a high-end bag offers greater efficiency and moisture control for professional-level performance.

Seeing a musician of JDC’s caliber use our B-4 set in his Music Video after using the set for 2+ years is a massive win for us. It proves that the foundation of our instruments is professional grade.

We are grateful to Jesús for his support and for being part of our journey as we continue to improve every single day.
