Grenser’s original instruments were known for their clear, focused tone and responsive articulation. This modern reproduction retains the aesthetic and acoustic character of his work, while being tuned to modern concert pitch (A=440), making it ideal for both historically informed performance and integration into contemporary ensembles.
This flute is a recreation after August Grenser (Dresden, 1720–1807).
- Pitch 440
- Fixed head-joint.
- Crafted from either Olive wood or Grenadilla ebony wood.
- Wood-ends are protected by imitation ivory rings.
- The key is casted from brass and features steel springs with leather pad.
- Comes with care instructions, and a guide with a fingering chart.
- Additionally, accessories such as a plush-lined wooden protective case, cleaning cloth, and extra key pads are provided.
In addition to flutes, August Grenser demonstrated his versatility by crafting clarinets, basset horns, and other low woodwinds. He went on to become one of the most renowned wind instrument makers of the 18th century.

Rudiger To me, it is an upgraded version of Aulos AF1 Grenser flute because it is made of wood, I have an Aulos AF1 and the sizes and measurements are the same, it seems Aulos and Hakam Din copied the same Grenser model, great job Hakamdin to offer a wood flute at a price of plastic flute. thumbs up!
