Our classical-traverso reproduction is based on a later 18th century 1785 model by August Grenser, Dresden, one of the most distinguished makers, reflecting the Dresden school at the threshold of the Classical era.

Grenser’s instruments reflect the transition from late Baroque craftsmanship to the emerging Classical style to suited late Baroque and Rococo repertoire, including works by JS Bach, Telemann, JJ Quantz, and CPE Bach, as well as to the early Classical repertoire of the late 18th century.

A=440 Hz: The flute is tuned to modern concert pitch. 

We have added Bb, G# and F keys (you can request to add long C and (or) long F key). 

We have developed a C foot joint with C# and C keys specifically for this model. Both D and C foot joints are included with the flute, giving the player the flexibility to use either foot joint.

You have the option of cocobolo or grenadilla wood. Carefully selected wood, the rings are individually hand-crafted from imitation Ivory, adding a distinctive contrast and elegant appearance while giving the instrument an added sense of craftsmanship and value.

The D foot joint has a register and a brass Eb key mounted on a hand-carved key block made directly from the wood body.

The C foot joint has brass Eb, C#, and C keys mounted on hand-carved key blocks made directly from the wood body.

The keys are cast in brass and left in its original finish, fitted with a brass pins, steel springs, and leather pads.

The Classical-traverso comes complete with a case.
