This alto chalumeau in C was designed after the historical two-keyed chalumeau by Thomas and Mathias Stubenwoll (Vienna, c. 1730, preserved in the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum).
This chalumeau has a modern Bb clarinet mouthpiece (and reeds), which allows it to remain stable regardless of climatic conditions (temperature and humidity).
It is perfectly suited to the Baroque repertoire, with a fundamental chromatic range extending from C4 to F5, and from G5 to E6 thanks to the overblow.
- Pitch: 415 or 440 Hz
- Crafted from Indian Cocobolo wood.
- Keys are made of brass, with steel springs and leather pads.
- It comes with a standard mouthpiece, a regular reed, and a wooden ligature. For optimal performance, we recommend the Vandoren BD4 mouthpiece paired with a Vandoren 56 rue Lepic strength 2.5 reed and a leather or cloth ligature.
- Included accessories: plush-lined protective case, extra set of pads, cleaning cloth and a fingering chart.
